In Florida, surge conditioners and surge protection is NOT a luxury.  You need good surge protection against frequent lightening strikes.  You might want to spend a few extra dollars on these items.  If your home is hit you may notice your coffee maker runs differently, and then it stops.  You may notice some glitches in your computer, and then it crashes.  The same thing could happen with your home entertainment area.  It may seem to work fine/ok for a day or two, but it gets progressively worse over time.
